You're probably here because you received some literature…
We call them 'Gospel Tracts', and they usually contain the Christian message...
The message can be summarised like this:
We've broken God's Moral Law (The Ten Commandments), whether we have lied, stolen, taken God's name in vain (OMG, JC) etc...
According to the Bible, God is just. Meaning that He has to judge us for the wrong we've done...
If we have broken His Law, we are guilty, and therefore deserve His prison, Hell.
But God is also loving. He loves us too and wants to show mercy!
But someone still has to pay the penalty for our sin. How can God reconcile both His justice and mercy without negating either one?
This was achieved through Jesus Christ. He took upon Himself our sins on the cross (and defeated death 3 days later), He paid the punishment we deserved for free because He loves us.
Through Jesus, God won't see our sinfulness and make us pay the penalty for our own sins (Hell), but He will see sinless Jesus instead (and that the penalty is already accounted for). He promises to give us a new heart too!
To accept this gift we must Repent (turn from sin) and put our faith (trust) in Jesus. We cannot earn our way into Heaven with good deeds (Ephesians 2:8).
